This week I made a series of small collages, made of photo’s of my own work, in different stadia of the creative process. I put them together in a leporello-book. It consists of 6 small collages of 9 x 11.5 cm. each.
The collages illustrate the poem “Hope is the thing with feathers”, written by Emily Dickinson in 1861:
“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –
And sweetest – in the Gale – is heard –
And sore must be the storm –
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm –
I’ve heard it in the chillest land –
And on the strangest Sea –
Yet – never – in Extremity,
It asked a crumb – of me.
I thought the poem was very appropriate for the uncertainty of the Corona time we’re coping with, worldwide…
More leporello’s are sure to follow, it was such a pleasure making it!
